Now in its 70th year and the 16th year as a cageless swim, the iconic Magnetic Island to Townsville Swim is the showcase event of the TOWSA Open Water Race Series.
Enjoy North Queensland's tropical winter weather and participate in one of the most iconic open water swims in Australia.
The Magnetic Island to Townsville Swim starts from Picnic Bay on Magnetic Island and finishes on Townsville's shoreline, directly in front of Strand Park. Guided by a paddler, solo swimmers will swim a total distance of 8km. Entries are also available for teams of two and teams of four.

ENTRY FEES
Solo swimmers $225
2 person team $400
4 person team $700
Additional tickets to the presentation $25 per adult and $12.50 per child.
A cash bar will be available.

QUALIFICATION
Solo swimmers and teams must complete the race in under 3 hrs 15 mins
As an indication swimmers can achieve this time, swimmers must complete a swim within 6 months of race date:

Solo swimmers must complete a 4km swim in a time less than 1 hour 35 min
-
Team swimmers must complete a 2km swim in a time less than 47.5 mins
Solo swimmers must be a minimum of 14 years old at 22 July 2023
Team swimmers must be a minimum of 12 years old at 22 July 2023
