Strand Swim

The second event of the 2024 TOWSA Open Water Swim Series is the Strand Swim. Proudly sponsored by West End Chiro, the event offers two ocean swim distances: 2km and 4km.
Swimmers can use this swim to qualify for the Magnetic Island to Townsville Swim.
Covering the traditional rectangle swim course, the Strand Swim starts and finishes at Strand Park Beach, next to Townsville Picnic Bay SLSC. The 2km swim distance is one lap of the course, while the 4km distance is two laps of the course.

ON THE DAY
Registration opens at 6:15am next to Townsville Picnic Bay SLSC.
The Swim briefing will be held at 6:45am for all swimmers.
The 4km swimmers will commence at 7:00am, followed by the 2km swimmers at 7:15am.

WETSUIT POLICY
Wetsuits are permitted to be worn for all swims, please nominate in the wetsuit category when registering for this swim.

Qualifying times for the Magnetic Island to Townsville Swim
Solo Swimmers must complete a 4km swim in a time less than 1 hour 35 minutes
Team swimmers must complete a 2km swim in a time less than 47.5 minutes.
